Due to Covid this program was put on hold in 2020.
Furry Friends Therapy Dogs has been visiting local schools since 2005.
Presentations on dog safety and ownership responsibility are given to primary grades and Head Start classrooms. After a short flip-chart talk, several Furry Friends dogs are introduced by their owners, questions are taken and then students may pet the dogs if they desire. Lastly an activity booklet is given to each child to reinforce the lesson.
In 2019 Furry Friends visited classrooms in Coos Bay and North Bend and distributed over 1000 activity books.
