December 16, 2021 Furry Friends Meeting

Meeting will be held at Pony Village Mall in Room 166, at 1 pm. Room 166 is located in the side hall next to Joann’s Fabrics. Come and sign up for a visit in January. Public is welcome, but no dogs.

October 28 2021 Membership Meeting

Canine Good Citizen Test Saturday August 21, 2021

The Canine Good Citizen Test will be held at Pony Village Mall on Saturday August 21, 2021 from  11:00 am to 1:00 pm.  The fee for dogs being tested is $10. There is no charge for anyone who wants to come and observe.

The test will be held in Suite 138, near Sears.

FURRY FRIENDS THERAPY DOGS ARE BACK!!

Life is returning to some semblance of normal. Therapy visits are being scheduled and meetings are being resumed.

Visits will be listed in the next Flyer, but there are a few openings still in July. Call Ramona Pessa and she will give you the details.

Furry Friends Membership meeting will be held at 1:00 pm on July 22 at Pony Village Mall in suite 138. All members and interested members of the public are welcome to attend. Service dogs are allowed, but no other dogs at the meeting.

The Furry Friends Board will meet at 1:00 pm on August 11 at the Coos Bay Library. This meeting is open to all members.

Corona Virus Information

As of December 2020 all visits and meetings are cancelled until the pandemic situation will allow us to resume visits.  This includes school and library visits as well as health care facilities.  Members will receive updates in the monthly Furry Friends Flyer.  Non-members can receive further information by contacting us through the above “Contact Us” Tab.

Playdays for members only are still being announced via email only.  If you are a member not currently receiving playday emails, you can request this through the “Contact Us” Tab.

March 26, 2020 Membership Meeting

The March 26, 2020 Membership Meeting will be held at 1pm at the South Coast Hospice Offices, 1620 Thomson in Coos Bay.  This is on the opposite side of Thompson Avenue from the hospital.

Our speaker will be Dan Poore from Hanson-Meekins Animal Hospital who will be demonstrating CPR for dogs.

Following our speaker we will have a business meeting.  Members of the public are always welcome at our meetings, but no dogs please (except service dogs.)

Due to the corona virus, we will be keeping this meeting as short as possible.

February 27, 2020 Membership Meeting

The February 27, 2020 Membership Meeting will be held at 1pm at the South Coast Hospice Offices, 1620 Thomson in Coos Bay.  This is on the opposite side of Thompson Avenue from the hospital.

Our speaker Laurie Gawelko of Service Dog Express.  She has a great detail of education and experience in the field of dog training, specializing in Service Dogs.  Among her many activities, she has worked with the Wounded Warriors program, Guide Dogs for the Blind, “Pitbulls and Parolees,” and training Therapy Dogs.  Following our speaker we will have a business meeting.

January 23, 2020 Membership/Annual Meeting

The January 23, 2020 Membership Meeting, starting at 1pm,  is the Annual Meeting at which elections will be held for 3 board positions:  Vice-President, Secretary, and one Board Member.
Prior to this meeting, members will be contacted by the nominating committee.  Members are asked to step up and participate on the board.  An organization cannot run without a volunteer board.  Anyone who is a member of Furry Friends is eligible to be a board member.  Please consider this opportunity to learn more about Furry Friends and to contribute to our future success.
Great news. Our meeting room at South Coast Hospice Offices will be available for our January meeting.  The room was not useable for quite a few months due to a water leak which has now been repaired.  The address for South Coast Hospice offices is 1620 Thompson Rd, Coos Bay.  It is on the opposite side of Thompson Rd from the Hospital.

We will no longer be meeting at New Beginnings Christian Fellowship, 455 4th Street, Suite #4, Coos Bay.

December 14, 2019 Holiday Party

The membership holiday party will be held on December 14.  There will be no regular meeting in December.
