March 26, 2020 Membership Meeting

The March 26, 2020 Membership Meeting will be held at 1pm at the South Coast Hospice Offices, 1620 Thomson in Coos Bay.  This is on the opposite side of Thompson Avenue from the hospital.

Our speaker will be Alix McGinley.  Alix is with South Coast Hospice and will be speaking about the HIPPA laws and how they affect our Furry Friends visits.  This is very important  information and all members are urged to attend.

Following our speaker we will have a business meeting.  Members of the public are always welcome at our meetings, but no dogs please (except service dogs.)

Canine Good Citizen Test Saturday February 29, 2020

The Canine Good Citizen Test will be held at Pony Village Mall on Saturday February 29,  2020 from  11:00 am to 1:00 pm.  The fee for dogs being tested is $10. There is no charge for anyone who wants to come and observe.

The test will be held in Suite 109, across from Sears.

February 27, 2020 Membership Meeting

The February 27, 2020 Membership Meeting will be held at 1pm at the South Coast Hospice Offices, 1620 Thomson in Coos Bay.  This is on the opposite side of Thompson Avenue from the hospital.

Our speaker Laurie Gawelko of Service Dog Express.  She has a great detail of education and experience in the field of dog training, specializing in Service Dogs.  Among her many activities, she has worked with the Wounded Warriors program, Guide Dogs for the Blind, “Pitbulls and Parolees,” and training Therapy Dogs.  Following our speaker we will have a business meeting.

January 23, 2020 Membership/Annual Meeting

The January 23, 2020 Membership Meeting, starting at 1pm,  is the Annual Meeting at which elections will be held for 3 board positions:  Vice-President, Secretary, and one Board Member.
Prior to this meeting, members will be contacted by the nominating committee.  Members are asked to step up and participate on the board.  An organization cannot run without a volunteer board.  Anyone who is a member of Furry Friends is eligible to be a board member.  Please consider this opportunity to learn more about Furry Friends and to contribute to our future success.
Great news. Our meeting room at South Coast Hospice Offices will be available for our January meeting.  The room was not useable for quite a few months due to a water leak which has now been repaired.  The address for South Coast Hospice offices is 1620 Thompson Rd, Coos Bay.  It is on the opposite side of Thompson Rd from the Hospital.

We will no longer be meeting at New Beginnings Christian Fellowship, 455 4th Street, Suite #4, Coos Bay.

December 14, 2019 Holiday Party

The membership holiday party will be held on December 14.  There will be no regular meeting in December.

Details of time, location, etc. will be available to members in our newsletter, the Furry Friends Flyer.

November 21, 2019 Membership Meeting

The November Membership Meeting will be held on the third Thursday rather that the fourth Thursday due to the Thanksgiving holiday.  The November 21 Membership Meeting will be held at 1pm at a new temporary location due to a water line break and ensuing flood at the South Coast Hospice location.

On November 21 we will be meeting at New Beginnings Christian Fellowship, 455 4th Street, Suite #4, Coos Bay.  This the Compass Building on the corner of 4th Street and Elrod.  It is right next door to the Coos Bay Fire Department.

Members of the public are always welcome, but no dogs please.

The October 24, 2019 Membership Meeting

The October 24 Membership Meeting will be held at 1pm at a new temporary location due to a water line break and ensuing flood at the South Coast Hospice location.

On October 24 we will be meeting at New Beginnings Christian Fellowship, 455 4th Street, Suite #4, Coos Bay.  This the Compass Building on the corner of 4th Street and Elrod.  It is right next door to the Coos Bay Fire Department.

The program will be be presented by Susann Steinberg, Ombudsman.  She will be discussing what an Ombudsman is and does.  She will be bringing handouts and will be accompanied with a trainee Ombudsman.  Following the program we will have our monthly business meeting.

Members of the public are always welcome, but no dogs please.

Membership Meeting September 25, 2019

The September 25 Membership Meeting will be held at 1pm at a new temporary location due to a water line break and ensuing flood at the South Coast Hospice location.

On September 25 we will be meeting at New Beginnings Christian Fellowship, 455 4th Street, Suite #4, Coos Bay.  This the Compass Building on the corner of 4th Street and Elrod.  It is right next door to the Coos Bay Fire Department.

The program will be be presented by Dr. Wendy Labrousse from Ocean Boulevard Veterinary Hospital.  She will be addressing issues of older dogs.  Following the program we will have our monthly business meeting.

August 18, 2019 Annual Summer Picnic

There is no membership meeting in August.  Current members and their families are invited to the annual summer picnic.  Details will be in the August Newsletter.

The program will be be presented by Justine Sahli.  Justine is a dog trainer, a member of the APDT (Association of Professional Dog Trainers) and a CGC (Canine Good Citizen) Evaluator.  Following the program we will have our monthly business meeting.
